Who we are
Cord Electrical is a family run electrical business based in Didcot, Oxfordshire, run by Colin, Carlie and Chris Byrne. We are responsible for the personal information you give us through this website and when you contact us. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your details, get in touch:

What we collect
When you send an enquiry through our website, we collect the details you enter: your name, phone number, email address, postcode, address, the type of work you need, your message and any photos you upload.
If you call, email or message us on WhatsApp, we keep the details you share with us so we can deal with your enquiry.
We do not take payments through this website.
How we use your information
We use your details to:
- reply to your enquiry and give you a quote or estimate
- arrange and carry out the work
- issue electrical certificates and notify building control where the law requires it
- keep the records we need for tax, insurance and certification
We will not use your details for marketing, and we never sell or rent them to anyone.
Our legal basis
We use your information because you have asked us to quote for or carry out work, because the law requires us to keep certain records and notify certain work, and because we have a legitimate interest in keeping accurate records of the work we have done in case you or a future owner of the property has questions about it later.
Who we share it with
We only share your information where we need to:
- Our enquiry system and customer records are held securely on the LeadConnector platform, which processes data on our behalf. Some of this data may be stored outside the UK, including in the United States, with safeguards in place as required by UK data protection law.
- For notifiable work under Part P of the Building Regulations, we share your name and the property address with NAPIT and the local authority building control so the work can be registered.
- Our accountant and HMRC, where needed for tax.
- If you contact us on WhatsApp, your messages are handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under their own privacy policy.
- Our website is hosted through Cloudflare, and our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser shares your IP address with Google when you visit.
We will not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
If your enquiry does not go ahead, we delete your details within 12 months.
If we carry out work for you, we keep your details, invoices and certificates for at least six years after the job is finished, as required for tax and so we can support the certificates and guarantees we have given you.
Photos you send are only used to help us quote and are deleted along with your enquiry if the work does not go ahead.
Cookies
Our website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Any cookies it sets are only those needed for the site and the enquiry form to work. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where needed.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong
- ask us to delete your information, where we do not need to keep it by law
- object to or ask us to limit how we use it
To do any of these, email or call us using the details above. We will reply within one month and there is normally no charge.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please talk to us first and we will do our best to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
